RDSC BLOG

Welcome to my blog.

The purpose of this blog is simple - to help you improve your communication and social skills so you can be better in personal and professional social situations. In other words, to help you become the best version of yourself.

Hopefully you will find something practical and useful here...

How To Make Someone’s Day for Just $1

4/7/2018

Everyone should have to wait tables at least once in their life. It teaches you a lot about hard work, people skills, and the value of a dollar.

One thing I learned during my two years or so in this profession was just how much tips meant to me. There was something special about getting a tip for more than the standard/expected 15% or so. Even if it was just by one dollar extra.

There is something powerful about going above and beyond to show appreciation.

So, the next time you are out at a restaurant, figure out what your usual tip would be, then add one. That dollar will mean a lot more to them than it would to you.

Thanks for reading. I’d love to hear what you think.

Value Relationships over winning arguments

3/28/2018

Trying to look smart and make sure you “win” every debate, discussion, and disagreement can sometimes damage a relationship. Is it worth it?

Know when to pick your battles.

Please share and like this if you think it might be useful to someone. Thanks!

Are good manners important?

3/19/2018

Good manners aren’t just about being “nice.” They are good for your reputation, brand, and business.

Sometimes it's all about the little things. Here are a few ways you might be able to improve your manners instantly:

▪️Saying “excuse me” if you bump into someone.
▪️Saying “thank you” when people hold doors open for you.
▪️Not interrupting.

Does character matter?

3/16/2018

‪Your word is everything. ‬

‪Do whatever it takes to do what you say, mean what you say, and live like you say. ‬

It may be tempting to think that being dependable is not a big deal. It is.

Both your personal and professional reputations depend heavily on how reliable you are. Don’t be casual about it.

Say hi on social media @MrDougCampbell.

How To Lower Stress In Social Situations

3/14/2018

It’s time to stop putting so much pressure on yourself in social situations. Look for connections instead of someone to trick into liking you or your business. You will have a much better chance of being the best version of yourself.

The secret of accomplishing this is to think of every interaction simply as a chance to gain information or learn something. A pass/fail mindset can make you stressed, anxious, and inauthentic.

Good luck!

Doug
